Multi Lit:In “Girl” by Jamaica Kincaid, the mother provides her daughter with numerous expectations about how a girl should behave.

Some expectations that girls or women are expected to do is they must know how to dress properly ( not showing too much skin), they must know how to clean around the house and keep everything neat and in place, and once married they must know how to cook and take care of the children. While boys and men they must know how to handle things like work, taking care of responsibilities such as paying one bill no matter what it is, they must make an income doesn't matter if it benefit the family or not, they must know how to fix a flat tire or make a full maintenance on the engine( change the oil, transmission fluid, and other components). This last one has to be the most difficult since it puts a lot of expectations on me.

Reflection: In every culture every gender is expected to act in some way or do something. This can be for the benefit of oneself or both genders. But sometimes our cultures expect way too much from one person which can be overwhelming sometimes.

Summary: Expectations are sometimes good but not everyone is capable to live to them.
