MULTI LIT: Reflect on a time when you discovered a new perspective that completely changed how you viewed a person, group, or place. How did your previous “single story” shape your thoughts or actions?

I used to think that every people that spoke Spanish was from Central America. At the time I was 10 years old, but I remember that people started to tell me how to differentiate accents. They also teach me that it wasn’t good to think or judge a person for how they looked of for how they speak. Reflection: We don’t have to judge a person for how they dress, how they look, or how they speak. Because this only creates stereotypes and makes us create mask for others based on how we look at them. Summary: Learn from people before you judge them.

AM LIT: Think about the word or phrase you find yourself using the most right now. What is it, what does it mean, and why has it become part of your everyday vocabulary?

Probably the word that I use the most is “ be better” or “better”. I use word very often because it motivates me and pushes myself to keep moving forward. For example today was a thought time at work so in my mind I said to my self “ you can do better”. This helped me push through the last few hours of the shift. Definition of better is: “ morally superior; more virtuous“ copied from the dictionary. Reflection: I always have to give the better side of me and no matter what I have to be better every day. I also have to help others when they aren’t feeling good and motivate them so that they can do better. Summary: Being better doesn’t always mean to be the best.

MULTI LIT: With 4.5-week grades posting on September 2, reflect on your experience in AP Language so far. What has been going well for you, what has been challenging, and what is one thing you need to improve moving forward?

Well, one thing that has been going absolutely great for me. Has to be the fact that I’m getting to normal people and see my friends again after a whole year. One thing that has been challenging, has to be the fact that I have a lot of homework and that I had to give up my job to graduate early, but that’s OK. Lastly, something that I probably have to improve has to be probably getting my homework or the working class done quicker even if there’s you know pretty sure I’m amount of time that should probably be improving that the fact of doing homework more quickly. Reflection: Being an early graduate makes it a bit difficult, but  sometimes it gets to be fun. Because you get to know people from a whole another grade from you and I mean, It’s hard to make senior friends, but I guess I’ll be able to be know most of them. Summary: it’s been great so far and I think that this school year is going to be the best and at the same time the hardest year.

MULTI LIT: Judith Ortiz Cofer says, “The Island travels with you.” What part of your culture, family, or identity do you feel “travels” with you everywhere you go?

Well, something that travels with me has to be the fact that I have a heavy accent in English. Since both of my parents speak Spanish my dad speak English, but my mom speaks only Spanish and I grew up most of the time with her. My grandparents are from Spain, so that is a plays a role there, but I think that’s the most notorious thing that people notice at first and because of that most of the time people think I’m from any other country in Latin American. People say “You’re from this country you’re from that country” and it’s just really funny because I’m not from any of those countries. Reflection: I think the most important thing to always remember is that you don’t have to be ashamed of your culture, your identity, nor your family because it’s what makes you. Your culture is always gonna follow you no matter what you do no matter how much you try to change it and is just always gonna stick to you. You just have to appreciate for what you have for the culture that you have and live ...

AM LIT: In “Her Sweet Weight on My Heart a Night” by Emily Dickinson, the speaker describes the emotional weight another person can have on us. Think about someone who has left a lasting impact on your life.

Well person that really left an impact on me has to be one of my ex partners. We were together for four months and it was really nice because we share a lot of things in common. We share a lot of moments together. We had our ups and downs, but we always pushed through and whenever we need it each other, we were always there and I think the way I still carry her has to be the fact that in such a little amount of time we shared so many great moments. I got to meet her parents and I felt so glad that they like me. I thought that everything was just so perfect but things didn’t go the way we wanted it. I think the best way that she impacted me was the fact that everything of her still lives in me every song every memory every time I talk to a person about something every time I try to share the things I like it just goes back to her because we had so much in common and that felt so so perfect. Reflection: people might impact you. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a partner doesn’t nec...

Multi Lit: Which learning method do you enjoy the most?

I like more hands on activities they make me connect with my classmates and get me to know them more. This is helpful since they might be able to help them or for them to help me if I'm stuck in a problem. Plus hands on activities let's students creativity flow and gives them the chance to discuss a problem or question. Reflection: Others might like class discussions or worksheets but hands on work in my opinion are a mix of both, although it might not always be the case. Some hands on might just ask you to discuss and write everyone's answers in the same sheet of paper, or just rotate the work around and let each of the classmates creativity flow. Summary: It's important to know that every one likes one method or the other and they might work better using such a method.

AM LIT: In Emily Dickinson’s “I Felt a Funeral, in My Brain,” the speaker experiences a mind that seems to work against her. Sometimes our own thoughts can make a situation feel worse than it actually is.

I once thought I was not enough for that person and it destroyed me in a way that I never saw coming because I thought I’m not being enough for that person or I’m not giving my best and that made me hurt own feelings and my self esteem . Even though that person was always there for me always telling me “yes you’re enough for me”. Maybe the thought of becoming  perfect for that person made the situation worse it consumed me little by little every day. Now I look back and realize that now that person is gone and even though I truly tried to be better, to become perfect for that person I wasn’t able to see my actual flaws. Reflection: No matter how hard you try sometimes you already are giving your best and you just can’t do nothing else. But that doesn’t mean to try and be better at something’s that aren’t too good. If people tell you “ you are perfect, you are already giving me your best” believe them because sometimes we just have to accept that you’re already giving your bes...

MULTI LIT: Write about an experience when someone assumed something about you because of a stereotype. What was the situation, and what did you do?

Well this might sound funny but sometimes people think that I’m Mexican or from somewhere else in Latin America. I don’t really care about that since I guess people just have the idea that if you have a Hispanic or Latino accent they go straight to think that you are from another country. But once I tell people why I have an accent and that I was born in the United States they apologize or say “ oh I thought you were from this country because of your accent”. Reflection: People are always going to have stereotypes based on what they see and what they think. For example people might think I work in construction or somewhere you are under the sun most of the time but I actually been working on a cafe and the restaurant industry, and yes I have worked under the sun but just long enough to have my arms tanned. Summary: Stereotypes is something normal on every day life and some people say it out loud while others just don’t say it and keep it to themselves.

Multi Lit:In “Girl” by Jamaica Kincaid, the mother provides her daughter with numerous expectations about how a girl should behave.

Some expectations that girls or women are expected to do is they must know how to dress properly ( not showing too much skin), they must know how to clean around the house and keep everything neat and in place, and once married they must know how to cook and take care of the children. While boys and men they must know how to handle things like work, taking care of responsibilities such as paying one bill no matter what it is, they must make an income doesn't matter if it benefit the family or not, they must know how to fix a flat tire or make a full maintenance on the engine( change the oil, transmission fluid, and other components). This last one has to be the most difficult since it puts a lot of expectations on me. Reflection: In every culture every gender is expected to act in some way or do something. This can be for the benefit of oneself or both genders. But sometimes our cultures expect way too much from one person which can be overwhelming sometimes.  Summary: Expec...

AM LIT:Describe one thing that makes you different from other people.

One thing that makes me different to the rest of people is my character everyone has a unique character. Some people might have strong character while others might have a more soft and kind character. Some might look mean on the outside and really kind once you get to know them and others might be the opposite. This is what makes everyone unique. Reflection: Everyone has something that makes them unique in either physical or maybe on the way they act with others. We humans are more unique in every possible way. We are all different and that's what makes us unique. Summary: We are all especially one way or another and that's what makes us humans.

Am Lit:Write about an adventure you would like to go on.

An adventure I would love to do will be to travel the whole country by car without having to worry about the money, place to stay, or even giving up my comfort for reliability. The plan is to visit every town and  famous city of each state. That would be an adventure I would love to go on. Reflection: It's nice to escape reality for a minute for example some people like to do hobbies, or travel, and some others like to just sleep or stay at home just to escape reality for a sec. Because sometimes it is not that we are distant it's just that there is too much around us and we can't handle it. Summary: Every one have their own adventure that they love and would do over and over again.

Multi Lit: Write about a time when you did something out of the norm. What was it and how did others react?

Well I guess something I did that others found odd in me was that I wasn't the good student that everyone thought I was. I was a good student yes but I was also a bit of a trouble maker. I used to skip classes and even skip school. At the time I didn't care that much until someone told me "hey stop skipping school please you have to focus on your classes that way you can get your credits". I did and I promised that person I wasn't going to do it again. When people found out they were a bit surprised and didn't believe me  until I got in ISS ( In School Suspension). Reflection: I'm not the person I used to be and that's the most beautiful part about being humans that we learn from our mistakes and even thought we don't always learn from our mistakes we still take the bad experience and learn that we don't have to make it again. Now it might take more than once to actually learn the lesson but in the end we end up knowing better. Summary: Mistak...

AM LIT: What is the most creative thing you have ever made?

The most creative thing that I have made before has to be painting my own self-portrait. It wasn't perfect but I let all my creativity out that day. I let my emotions and the way I saw myself make that portrait. In the end it was more of a collage rather than a painted portrait but to me it represented me and how I view myself. Reflection: Sometimes it doesn't have to be something that includes arts but something about how you feel. An example is to play the guitar and let out that creativity such as making or composing a new song or solo. Summary:  People are creative and they let out that creativity in different ways. Some will draw, others will paint, some will drive and do tricks ( drift or race), some will sing and others dance. Being creative doesn't only mean that a person is only good at that it means that they like doing that and to them that might mean something.

Multi Lit: Describe a time when you felt completely lost.

A  time where I felt completely lost was when I moved back here. I was living in Nashville  and I had it all an apartment, a car, a job, I had everything that I need it, but then I crash my car and I lost my apartment after my dad kick me out, and at the same time I lost my job. This has to be the time where I felt  lost and through out all July I felt like if there was nothing to fight for beside study and that's it. Reflection : Even when you feel like you have lost everything that's worth fighting for remember that there are better things coming ahead and that not everything is lost. For me was getting my strength from praying and hope, things got better on the long run and even though I lost a lot of things it made me realize that god had something better waiting for me I just had to be patience. Summary: Being lost doesn't mean its over, it might just mean a new start, new people, and another chapter in your life, not everything or everyone is forever so we mus...

AM LIT:Everyone has burning questions about life. Mysteries we wonder about but don’t always have clear answers for.

Well my biggest burning question has to be why do we worry about things that don’t matter to much and ignore the ones that really matter. Most people might have forgotten about world hunger or the climate change crisis. This are things that can prejudice us in the future but until it’s not late enough we don’t really do something, and yes I know that there are many people trying to do something about this problems but they are so little that the change is not visible. Reflection: Everyone has different opinions, different questions that still don’t have an answer. As humans we are curious by nature. We question things that still don’t have answers or are just too vague that we wonder what the answer could possibly be. Summary: There are always going to be questions that won’t have an answer. We are going to always have questions like that and it’s normal as humans. We won’t always have the answers to questions but we can always wonder what the answer can be.

Multi Lang: Analyze how you’ve adapted to the demands of this course over the past week, and evaluate one strength and one challenge you anticipate as we progress, justifying your insights with personal examples.

Well since it's been only two days since I've been in class I can't really say that  I've had any difficulties but overall I like the class and i feel it's gonna be easier than American Lit. Reflection: There's not that much difference between American Literature and Multi cultural Lang besides that one is an 11th grade course and the other is a 12th grade course. Summary: The class is great and the teacher is the best.

AM LIT: Analyze how you’ve adapted to the demands of this course over the past week, and evaluate one strength and one challenge you anticipate as we progress, justifying your insights with personal examples.

Well overall I develop very well in this class, there haven't been activities that i haven't been able to finish or task that has been too complicated. One strength is that I'm always over my work and I constantly keep checking on my work. One challenge I do anticipate is that since i have to classes in the same room I might get confuse but overall everything is good. Reflection: Everyone has their own problems and deals with them in their own way. People might not always accept help but sometimes it is good to get help from someone once in  a while. If you are struggling with something don't overwork yourself remember you have your friends and peers to help you. Summary: It has been a good week so far and I hope that I can reach my teachers and my classmates expectations.

Multi Lang: If someone tried to understand you using only your race, what important things would that person miss?

That person would most likely miss the fact where I'm from, my real ethnicity, but most important my real race, because for example I'm born in america but my hair texture might make people think I'm from Latin america, my accent might also make them think that not american. People mainly make inferences because of what they see. People don't ask you about your racial ethnicity, your ancestry, or where you are from when you are a stranger so they will only think and have an idea based on you looks. Reflection: people don't really bother to ask whether you are Black, White, Hispanic,  Asian, or mix race. People will mainly have an idea of your race based on your looks ( hair texture, skin color, or accent), who you surround yourself with, and  what you like. But once someone gets to know you more closely they will know much more about you. Summary: As humans we are really ignorant, we don't bother to actually ask or really think from where a person is  because w...

AM LIT: How did creating your own origin myth help you better understand why cultures use stories to explain the origins of people, places, traditions, or natural events?

It helps me understand that people will not always save their stories in a book. Some people might pass on the information like the Navajo tribe. This gives the story a new perspective from each person and makes it change over time. This can be bad but also good because it moves from what was originally told but also gives the idea that each person has a different point of view and uses their imagination differently. Summary: The understanding of each culture is important to know how they interact with their environment and most important to respect their culture and beliefs. Most origin myths have connections to things like the bible or creatures and characters like poseidon and other characters from different cultures or myths. Reflection: I understand that not everyone has the same beliefs and view the world from different perspectives.

Write about a meaningful object or place in your life that carries a story.

An object that carries a meaningful story is my guitar, I was gifted that guitar when i was 8 and was with me until 2 years ago, that guitar teach me how to have patience whenever things aren't working out, how to fix a bad situation and make it some what better. That guitar meant a lot to me and even though my parents sold it because it was old it carried my story and my worst and best moments. Summary: The Navajo Story tries to make you understand and learn on how their tribe was form. The story focus on begochiddy "the child of the sun" and how he tries to find the perfect world for his creatures ( the navajo). He and his creatures travel across four worlds and on each one there is a problem or issue and his solution is to move and protect his creatures. At the end the fourth world is peaceful and even if its not beautiful it still better and here is where his creatures settle. Reflection: The story is a refrence to several beliefs and other entities, but the greatest...

The time that I felt connected to nature

There was this time in which i felt more connected to nature than ever, it was about 4 years ago my classmates and I had a small trip with our parents. We rented 2 cabins for 3 families and they were settled near a small river and for most of the trip me and my friends spend most of the time near the rive bank. I still remember how we talk about next year and how we were going to become freshmen and there was this day that we decide to just sit and listen to the water running and the birds humming around. For some reason that day i felt more connected to nature than ever before, sometimes you don't need to be looking out to the nature to connect with it, some times you just need to close your eyes and let nature closely makes it way to you.

Three goals for this year

Graduated early (2027) Buy my car back ( ford mustang) Buy an MacBook Pro
