09/21 MULTI LIT: At the end of Fences, forgiveness becomes an important part of the characters moving forward. Do you think forgiving someone means you also have to forget what they did? Why or why not? Connect your response to your own experiences or observations.

Forgiving someone most of times people get the wrong idea that you have to forget what they did, but in reality you don’t technically have to forget what they did just have to forgive their actions because not everyone is perfect. We are all humans after all and we all make mistakes at some point in our lives mistakes that might hurt others mistakes that we might regret for a few months, weeks, maybe years but the most important part of forgiving is to learn how to forgive that person and forgive yourself. Because forgiving is like saying, I’m sorry, but if you don’t do it from heart from the very deep of your being, then you might still hold that negative feeling and you don’t have to forget what they did you can remember what they did and forgive yourself for maybe allowing it to happen or maybe not being able to see the whole picture before it happened.
