Am lit: In “Missing Your People,” Tracy Brower explains the importance of belonging. Describe a time when you felt like you truly belonged. What created that feeling?

Well, this year I feel like I belong and it’s not about how people is or like the new school year or anything like that it’s more about how I see myself and that this year I know it’s my last year and I feel like I’m capable of anything and everything at the same time it makes me feel more connected in a sense of belonging because even though I know little to no seniors, and there’s new faces all over school that gives me a sense of belonging since I was gone from school for a whole year, that makes me start fresh that makes me remember oh I was once like them. I didn’t know no one so makes me feel connected and it gives that sense of belonging again.

Reflection: It’s OK to not feel like you’ve been belong somewhere at some point, but if you go back and give it a chance or stay and give it a chance you can actually feel you belong there. You just have to try. not only on the sense that you have to stay there but more like you can get to know more people get to experience more things and learn from that place.

Summary: You won’t always feel like you belong somewhere or with someone especially if you don’t give it a chance to show you what that place or person has for you.
